In the Pantanal, the largest wetland in the world, a true global biodiversity hotspot and home to iconic species such as jaguars, giant anteaters, tapirs, and the great hyacinth macaw, a strategic partnership is born with our most important supporter from Europe. Onçafari and The A&H Foundation join forces with the goal of protecting biodiversity and supporting the sustainable development of local communities in the Pantanal.
The partnership focuses on Onçafari’s reserves in the Pantanal, properties located in strategic areas for conservation, as they are part of ecological corridors with national and transboundary impact, in addition to hosting a high concentration of biodiversity.
A central focus of the partnership is the conservation of the hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), the largest macaw species in the world and one of the most threatened in the Pantanal, where habitat loss and environmental degradation place constant pressure on its population.
The support of the A&H Foundation contributes to Onçafari’s work, in collaboration with the Hyacinth Macaw Institute, for habitat restoration and the protection of macaw nesting areas. The A&H Foundation is also designated as our partner of choice for all parrot-related initiatives within Onçafari’s reserves. Key focus of this collaboration will include habitat restoration, protection of critical nesting sites, species monitoring and research, as well as essential infrastructure and equipment.

The foundation also invests in conservation infrastructure, environmental education, fire management, and job creation for local communities through ecotourism and conservation-related activities.
