In March, the Defender team visited Caiman Pantanal for the Defender Expedition, a field experience with Onçafari. From March 4th to 8th, 12 participants, representing the leadership of five dealerships from Brazil, joined safaris that explored different areas of the Pantanal landscape. These areas included dirt roads, flooded sections, and denser vegetation where participants experienced up close the dynamics of wildlife.
“It was a connection of adventure and incredible experiences! Everything was perfect! Congratulations to the Jaguar Land Rover team for the choice, it has everything to do with the Defender proposal. An adventurous and off-road spirit,” said one of the participants.
During the outings, numerous sightings of mammals, birds, and reptiles typical of the biome were recorded.These sightings included jaguars in action with a notable observation of an armadillo predation.
The opportunity to see a jaguar in its natural habitat is possible thanks to the habituation process in which the felines become accustomed to the presence of safari vehicles without interfering with their natural behavior. This allows the species to be observed more closely and safely for both the animals and the teams.
Defender vehicles play an important role in this process, supporting ecotourism and monitoring activities. They enable the teams to access remote areas of the Pantanal and follow the region’s wildlife.

Onçafari and Defender have been working together for seven years, sharing a common goal; to support the conservation of Brazilian fauna and flora across diverse landscapes. In a dynamic biome like the Pantanal where conditions change throughout the year, this mobility allows for continuity of the work and ongoing monitoring of the species.
Over this journey, the partnership has also led to special initiatives. Two highlights include a 10th-anniversary commemorative edition of Onçafari vehicles launched in 2020, featuring 25 units inspired by jaguars monitored in the Pantanal; and, for Oncafari’s 12th anniversary, Defender presented a custom vehicle model inspired by the jaguar.
Onçafari thanks Defender for supporting conservation efforts in the Pantanal. This partnership strengthens the conservation of Brazil’s biodiversity and highlights shared values in support of nature.
