On November 5th, Lagoa Sem Lei (LSL) brought together a group of 30 cyclists at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in Rio de Janeiro for another edition of its monthly circuit, this time for the purpose of supporting Onçafari and the conservation of the jaguar and Brazil’s biomes.
The initiative was created by the couple Tatiana Tamussino and Marcelo Ferreira, who decided to combine sports and health with different important causes. Every month, they organize bike rides that support social and environmental projects. In November, which is dedicated to International Jaguar Day, the focus was on highlighting the importance of the largest feline in the Americas.
At four in the morning, the group gathered at the lagoon. Some of the cyclists wore custom yellow jerseys from Teo UV symbolizing the spirit of the action with proceeds from the sale of the shirts donated to Onçafari. By the end of the event, the streets of Rio had turned yellow.
Tatiana and Marcelo have been regular supporters of Onçafari for several years and during this time they have contributed to various initiatives, including supporting the book Minha Mãe é Fera, an educational project that spreads the message of wildlife protection to younger generations.
LSL has shown that when purpose is united with action, the impact multiplies. Just like Tatiana and Marcelo, anyone can join this movement by adopting more conscious practices and supporting initiatives that protect wildlife and maintain the balance of our biomes.
How to Help
Onçafari has been working for fourteen years to conserve Brazil’s biodiversity and there are several ways you can be part of this mission. You can adopt a jaguar, become a Friend of the Jaguar, share our content, experience ecotourism in the Pantanal or Cerrado, purchase products from our online store or even donate your Nota Fiscal Paulista. There are many ways to demonstrate support and each one contributes to the conservation of Brazil’s biomes! Learn more below:
Adopt a Jaguar
Adopting a jaguar does not mean keeping it as a pet, but directly supporting the monitoring of a wild individual.
For a year, you will receive updates about that jaguar and contribute to research, tracking, data recording, and actions that help conserve the jaguar’s natural habitat.
To adopt, just send an email to .
Become a Friend of the Jaguar
At Onçafari, the expression “friend of the jaguar” (“amigo da onça” in Portuguese) takes on a new meaning. Here, being a Friend of the Jaguar means being part of the solution.
Donors who become a Friend of the Jaguar directly support Onçafari’s work in conserving jaguars, maned wolves, and other Brazilian species. They also help protect natural areas and contribute to the creation of ecological corridors that are crucial for wildlife survival. Click here to learn more.
Share Our Content
Sharing our posts is a simple way to expand the reach of our cause. The more people who learn about our work, the more the network of support for Brazilian wildlife conservation grows. Check out our social media here.
Experience Ecotourism in the Pantanal or Cerrado
By experiencing ecotourism with Onçafari, you support a model that combines conservation, local income generation, and more harmonious coexistence between people and wildlife.
Connect with nature through Onçafari: in Caiman, Pantanal, observe jaguars in the wild and feel the power of the world’s largest flood plain; in Trijunção, Cerrado, closely follow the maned wolf and discover why this is one of Brazil’s richest and most important biomes.
