In August 2026, Onçafari will celebrate 15 years of dedication to the conservation of Brazilâs biodiversity and biomes. Over this journey, the jaguar has become the great ambassador of this work, sparking curiosity, fascination, and connection with nature, while also revealing an essential truth: wherever it lives, an ecosystem thrives in balance. The story began in 2011 in the Pantanal when Onçafari was founded with the goal of showing that wildlife conservation could go hand in hand with responsible tourism. What started as the challenge of making jaguar-watching in the wild possible evolved into a broader effort of research, wildlife monitoring, and conservation initiatives across Brazilâs biomes. Onçafari and A&H Foundation are joining forces in support of the Pantanalâs conservation, making the Foundation our most important partner in Europe. The region, which is home to rich biodiversity including jaguars, hyacinth macaws, giant anteaters, and tapirs will receive support from A&H, which backs global projects based on the principle that education and conservation must go hand in hand. The partnership focuses on conserving the Pantanalâs biodiversity, as well as key areas for the creation of ecological corridors and the protection of fauna and flora. The A&H Foundation becomes our partner of choice for all parrot-related initiatives across our reserves with particular focus on the endangered hyacinth macaw. In addition, A&H will support a new parrot research station, environmental education, fire prevention, and job creation, promoting conservation and sustainable development. Mario Haberfeld, CEO of Onçafari, attended the executive program âLeadership for System Change: Delivering Social Impact at Scaleâ at the Harvard Kennedy School. His participation in this program, aimed at global leaders in social impact and organized in partnership with the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, is part of the Social Entrepreneur award that Mario Haberfeld received in 2026 in Davos. The gathering brought together innovators from different parts of the world to discuss how to scale solutions and drive systemic change. In March, Defender carried out a safari expedition with Onçafari at Caiman Pantanal. From the 4th to the 8th, dealership leadership representatives from the brand in Brazil took part in a field experience that covered different areas of the Pantanal landscape, including dirt roads, flooded stretches, and dense vegetation, providing direct contact with the dynamics of wildlife. During the outings, the group observed several species typical of the biome, including jaguars in action. The opportunity to observe these felines in the wild is the result of a habituation process, which consists of getting the animals accustomed to the presence of safari vehicles without interfering with their natural behavior. Partners for seven years, Onçafari and Defender share a commitment to supporting the conservation of Brazilian fauna and flora. In a dynamic biome such as the Pantanal, Defender vehicles help teams access remote areas, carry out wildlife monitoring, and continue conservation efforts in the region. | |

Water covers about 71% of the Earthâs surface, but only 2.5% is freshwater. Even though it represents a small portion, rivers play an essential role. They regulate the climate, connect ecosystems, distribute water across landscapes, and support a vast diversity of species. In the regions where Onçafari operates, rivers are a fundamental part of biodiversity conservation. In the Amazon, the work takes place along the Azul and SĂŁo Benedito rivers within the RefĂșgio de Vida Silvestre Rios SĂŁo Benedito e Azul, a conservation unit in southwestern ParĂĄ that protects around 30,000 hectares of Amazon rainforest. In the Pantanal, rivers such as the Negro, Aquidauana, and the SĂŁo Lourenço river basin are part of the hydrological system that regulates the flood and drought cycles of the biome, sustaining wildlife, vegetation, and the balance of this unique landscape. In these areas, Onçafari carries out biodiversity monitoring, scientific research, and field conservation actions. Through the Jaguar Rivers Initiative, rivers are seen as wildlife pathways, and Onçafari works to connect natural landscapes across the ParanĂĄ and Paraguai river basins with the goal of building the first ecological corridor in South America. | |||
Between March 23 and 29, 2026, Brazil hosted, in Campo Grande MS, the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals CMS, known as COP15. The event brought together representatives from governments, scientists, and organizations to discuss global strategies for protecting species that move across different countries throughout their life cycles. Onçafari presented on the 27th, with Mario Haberfeld, CEO of Onçafari, participating in a lecture on human and big cat conflicts, sharing experiences and solutions to promote coexistence between people and jaguars. In addition, the jaguars from the Jaguar Parade will brighten the streets of Campo Grande to foster discussion about the conservation of the species through the concept of âurban corridors of awarenessâ.
