The penultimate month of the year, the month of the jaguar, brings good news for Onçafari. Recently, we experienced an important milestone: the release of Xamã, a male jaguar reintroduced into the Amazon. Xamã represents more than just an animal returning to its habitat. He symbolizes hope, commitment to conservation, and the power to transform challenges into opportunities for regeneration. This work, done with care and dedication, is only possible thanks to the support of each one of you.
In addition, we also have Giving Tuesday , a moment when everyone has the chance to unite for causes that make a difference. This year, we have an incredible opportunity: each donation received will be doubled, thanks to a match of up to USD 50.000. Your contribution is essential for us to continue promoting conservation projects, such as the reintroduction of Xamã, and so many other initiatives that protect biodiversity. I’m counting on you, let’s make a difference together!
Another important achievement occurred on November 22nd: I had the honor of representing Onçafari at the Best NGOs 2024 Award ceremony, where we were recognized among the 100 best NGOs in Brazil. This trophy is the result of a collective effort, refecting the tireless dedication of our team and the essential support of partners like you.
May these victories inspire us to continue protecting biodiversity and building a more sustainable future for our planet. |

| | Do you know what Giving Tuesday is? 💛
Celebrated annually, Giving Tuesday is a date that promotes solidarity and encourages a culture of donation worldwide.
This movement started in the United States in 2012, under the name Giving Tuesday, as a positive response to the shopping season and traditional commercial dates like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The idea was simple: dedicate a day to give back to society, support causes, and strengthen the work of social organizations. Since then, the initiative has gained momentum and different versions have arisen in various countries, including Brazil, where people and organizations come together to promote transformative social and environmental actions.
This year, Giving Tuesday will be celebrated on December 3rd, and Onçafari has joined the global movement! Your donations to Onçafari will double the impact! From November 26th to December 3rd, all donations will be doubled up to USD 50.000. Let's protect Brazilian biodiversity together! | | | | With the support of World Animal Protection, Xamã, a male jaguar who went through Onçafari's reintroduction process for almost two years, is now living free in a well-preserved area of the Amazon in southern Pará. This southern region of the Amazon is known as the deforestation arc which is threatened because the agricultural frontier is advancing towards the forest. |
| His release took place at the end of October. The reintroduction of Xamã in the Amazon is expected to improve scientific knowledge for the conservation of jaguars in the biome and in Brazil in general. Monitoring data from Xamã may assist in the development of public policies for the conservation of jaguars and for improving surveillance in these highly threatened areas.
Brazil is vital to conservation of the species because it has the largest population of jaguars in the world.

This initiative was another way to support the recovery of the Pantanal, heavily affected by the res that devastated Onçafari's reserve areas. Offering unique experiences, football team shirts, and other special items, the auction raised R$ 81,950.00. We are deeply grateful to the partners and sponsors who generously provided products and services, as well as the donors who participated with their bids. Together, we keep ghting for the Pantanal to survive and thrive! | | | In November, we welcomed the PremierPet team at our headquarters in São Paulo, which donated USD 36.000 to Onçafari's conservation projects. This donation resulted from a special partnership with the Premier Nattu line. A portion of the sales from the launch of a limited edition of dry food packaging went to Onçafari, strengthening our mission to protect the Pantanal and its majestic jaguars.
We are immensely grateful to PremierPet for this inspiring initiative and for supporting in our work since 2021. |
| | | | Luan Ramires | Field Guide
Luan Ramires, from the Santa Soa base, was born in Miranda-MS in a rural area and grew up on a resort hotel with a focus on tourism in the Pantanal. From a young age, he developed a great appreciation for nature and a deep interest in learning about the Pantanal's fauna and flora. As a teenager, he worked as a junior guide in his spare time, accompanying his father on tours. |
| In 2020, he started guiding tours in the Pantanal of Delta do Salobra, where he specialized in the area and met people who supported him on his journey. Onçafari, which was always a distant dream, became a reality in July 2022, when he had the great opportunity to join the team. Today, he works as a field guide and assists in the reintroduction of wildlife at the Santa Sofia Reserve, directly contributing to conservation of the Pantanal. | | | Ecotourism is one of Onçafari's branches, and you can schedule tours with our team at three operational bases. At Caiman (Pantanal), we conduct safaris focused on jaguar sightings. At Pousada Trijunção (Cerrado), we conduct safaris focused on maned wolf sightings. At Legado das Águas (Atlantic Forest), we offer immersive forest trail hiking and night kayaking. | You can also visit the Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge, a hotel located in Novo Airão, Amazonas, on the banks of the Rio Negro and facing the Anavilhanas National Park. Activities include canoeing, hiking, night focusing, and other experiences in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon. At this base, our focus is on monitoring wildlife through camera traps. |
