On October 6, Hotel Unique in São Paulo hosted the benefit dinner “Where There are Jaguars, There is Life in Balance,” a special evening to celebrate Oncafari’s achievements, present new projects such as the bold Jaguar Rivers Initiative, and reinforce our purpose of conserving Brazil’s biodiversity which has driven Onçafari for the past 14 years.

The event brought together 385 people including partner companies, supporters, advisors, donors, and friends for an experience featuring Klebber Toledo as master of ceremonies and a dinner crafted by chef Emmanuel Bassoleil, combining purpose, gastronomy, and art. The benefit auction, led by Henri Zylberstajn, included exclusive experiences and items donated by partner brands and was one of the highlights of the evening. Actress Mel Lisboa closed the night with a performance honoring Rita Lee.

More than a dinner, the night demonstrated the strength of our support network and the collective effort that makes Onçafari’s daily work across Brazil’s biomes possible. Everyone’s presence, donations, and partnership were essential in making this night a milestone.

Onçafari was doubly recognized at the 21st edition of the Folha Social Entrepreneur Award, one of Latin America’s leading honors for socio-environmental impact initiatives which is promoted by Folha de S.Paulo!

In the Social Innovators of the Year category, Onçafari was acknowledged for its conservation work in conserving Brazilian biodiversity, especially in the Pantanal. At the same time, in the popular campaign on the MobilizAção platform, we led fundraising among the finalists, setting a record in the award’s history.

These honors reflect the collective strength of our cause and the ongoing support of an ever-growing network committed to protecting nature. We are deeply grateful to everyone who believes in and supports our mission.

In 2024, the Pantanal faced one of the most intense fire seasons in recent history affecting more than 80% of the São Francisco do Perigara Reserve (located in Barão de Melgaço, Mato Grosso). The reserve is a crucial refuge for Pantanal biodiversity, especially the hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus). The reserve holds the largest population of this species in the world.

In response, ADM joined forces with Onçafari through the ADM Cares program to strengthen fire prevention and response in the region. One year later, with the launch of the “Perigara em Chamas, NĂŁo Mais” project, we trained 25 local firefighters, built firebreaks and water reservoirs, and implemented a 360Âș monitoring system across the reserve.

Today, 35,700 hectares are better protected and the local community is more prepared to prevent fires and preserve the region.

During COP 30, Onçafari will host a special concert event at the Theatro da Paz in BelĂ©m on November 17: “Toquinho and Camilla Faustino: A Unique Night for the Amazon.” It will be an evening where art and nature come together with part of the proceeds going toward Onçafari’s conservation projects in the Amazon where we work at the Rios SĂŁo Benedito and Azul Wildlife Refuge. These areas form an ecological corridor helping to protect around 10 million hectares of the largest tropical forest on the planet.

Over the past few years, we’ve strengthened our presence in the region through actions such as the rehabilitation and release of jaguars (Pandora, Vivara, and Xamã), fauna monitoring, and the creation of Turi, a fire prevention and combat system developed by Onçafari and donated to the Government of Pará.

We invite you to get your ticket and be part of this special night in support of the Amazon!
