On February 3rd, during an event in Pará, Onçafari delivered equipment for wildfire prevention and firefighting and also presented the Turi Platform, a new fire monitoring system, to the state. This platform was developed in partnership with the Pará State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainability (Semas/PA) with financial support from Re:wild and the Bezos Earth Fund.
The Turi Platform will monitor fire outbreaks in Pará using data from INPE and NASA satellites. In addition to detecting fires, the system will assist environmental managers, firefighters, and civil defense technicians in decision-making by providing meteorological and fire risk data. |

Currently in its refinement and testing phase, the system is set to launch in June, at the beginning of the fire season.
The 120 tablets, 40 thermal printers, and 4 drones donated to Semas/PA by Oncafari will strengthen enforcement actions across the state to reduce wildfires, support the protection of conservation areas, and improve the quality of infraction reports and data collection.
Additionally, during the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of the State of Pará, Onçafari, and Re:wild to establish the Amazon Conservation Reference Center in southern Pará. This pioneering center will be created in the São Benedito and Azul Rivers Wildlife Refuge and aims to curb deforestation by establishing a strong foundation for forest protection, innovation, research, and effective environmental governance. The initiative will involve restoration, monitoring, ecotourism, and environmental education, while also driving sustainable development in the Amazon. |
